REALITY

Impossible to quantify, but interesting to contemplate.

Many of us, falsely believe, we have the finger on the pulse, the inside track on the truth, the spirituality that no one else has. We truly believe we were chosen to hold the universal truths, the reality. And, no one else.

Why do we try and convince ourselves that we are the arbiters of the truth? What in our nature compels to believe we alone have the answers and that everyone else is living a delusional lie?

At best, what we can do is try to find areas where there is almost universal agreement, nearly 100% consensus and see if this leads us to some kind of truth, reality, spiritual enlightenment.

Any concepts that have less than almost unanimous agreement provide little to nothing in the way of pointing us to the goal of truth and reality.

Concepts that do not meet the criteria of universal agreement are Christianity or any religion, morality, doing what is right and intelligence. These are a select few, but opinions about each would vary widely so contemplating them has little chance of leading us to truth or reality because there is no consensus which means we can't rely on them to bring us closer to reality.

Concepts that meet the necessary criteria include health, money and friendships. Pretty much everyone believes you have to be healthy to lead the fullest life, that you need money and that you need relationships. If we study these concepts, which are almost impossible to argue against, they have a glimmer of hope of leading us to some truth, some reality that we can lord over our friends.

Whenever you debate a friend, it always ends in a stalemate because there is no divine judge simply other people's opinions. This is why it is so important to debate topics of near universal agreement.

This is why these topics are so fascinating because they are the closest thing to reality. If you are on the right side of these concepts, you can feel superior arguing for them because you will not find dissent like you would with most other subjective ideas.

Most people are on a conscious or unconscious mission to prove their reality is the reality. Yet, they choose to debate their positions using topics that are easily dismissed as too subjective.

This is why I tend to write about subjects that most people agree on.

People mistakenly believe I think I'm living what I'm writing about. I'm trying to find and document the areas where there is almost universal agreement because it might flush out a way of living that could take us to a higher plane by forcing us to admit to certain realities and truths that really can't be debated.

These are some of the topics:

ego

religion

what can I do for you

what I dislike about school

school paradox

drudgery
